DL-Malic acid is a racemic mixture of D- and L-isomers of malic acid, a naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid found in many fruits, particularly apples appears as a white crystalline powder, highly soluble in water. It is widely used in the food and beverage industries as a flavor enhancer and acidity regulator, providing a tart or sour taste. It is also used in cosmetic formulations for pH adjustment and exfoliation.
